How to Prepare a Delicious Pizza

The first step in preparing a delicious pizza is to prepare the dough. Start by bringing the yeast, flour and sugar to room temperature. This will ensure that they are active and ready to work together. Yeast needs to be active in order to properly ferment and raise the dough. If the yeast is cold or too hot it won’t be able to function properly.

Next, pour half cup of luke warm water into the large mixing bowl and stir to combine. The water should be lukewarm because hot water can kill the yeast and cause the pizza dough to not rise. Once the water has been mixed, add the olive oil and stir again.

Knead the pizza dough on low speed using a mixer with a dough hook or by hand for about 7-10 minutes. The dough should be smooth and elastic. If the dough is sticky, sprinkle in some extra flour to keep it from sticking. After kneading, let the dough rest for 15 to 20 minutes.

While the dough is resting, you can prepare the toppings for the pizza. If you are going to be adding any raw meats or vegetables they should be cooked first. This will prevent them from cooking through before the pizza is done baking. If you are using a wood burning oven for your pizza you will need to preheat it for at least an hour. If you are using a gas oven, it will need to be preheated for 30 minutes.

When the pizza dough is seasoned, brushed with olive oil and topped it’s ready to be baked. Bake the pizza in a preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes or until it is golden brown. Serve and enjoy!

If you have any leftover pizza, it’s easy to freeze. Once the pizza has cooled, wrap it in plastic wrap and stick it in the freezer for up to 3 months. To reheat, let the pizza sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before placing it in the oven. Be sure to remove all of the air bubbles from the pizza before you do this!
